How to Adopt a Cat at Orphans
Located beyond a winding hallway of condos and play cages (where paws reach out for pets and curious purrs greet you), you’ll discover the heart of our shelter — the big cat room.
Here, friendly adult cats live together, waiting to find their match. Before reaching the big cat room, you’ll pass through our cat gallery, which showcases kittens, some adult cats, and shy or senior cats who prefer quieter spaces.
How It Works
Step 1: Meet the Cats
Explore the cat wing and get to know the cats on your own schedule. Each cat has an information card with name, age, personality notes, and more.
Our adoption counselors are always nearby to help answer your questions.
Step 2: One-on-One Time
Once you’ve found a cat (or several) you’re considering, let our team know. You’ll be able to spend time in our cat meeting room — a calm, quiet space where you and
the cat can get to know each other better.
Step 3: Ready to Adopt?
When you’ve found the one:
- If you haven’t already, complete an adoption application
- All household members should meet the cat before finalizing
- We’ll help you consider introductions with any resident pets
- Bring your cat carrier to take your new companion home safely. If you don’t have one, we can provide a temporary one for a nominal fee.
Our staff will guide you through the final steps and paperwork.
