Orphans of the Storm is your community’s animal shelter. By volunteering your time and talents, you are helping to make a difference to thousands of homeless animals arriving at our door each year.
Whether you’re walking dogs, cuddling kittens, or assisting with adoption events, your compassion directly impacts the animals in our care. We also rely on volunteers to serve as greeters and provide enrichment for the animals. We couldn’t do it without you—there are so many ways to get involved and be part of something special!
Ways to get involved
Volunteers serve as adoption ambassadors for our animals. Promoting them to potential adopters and providing friendly customer service to visitors.
Once you complete a profile in our VolunteerHub, you can begin signing up for shifts at our Hawthorn Mall and Northbrook Court locations.
An example of a fundraising event would be a corporate volunteer fair where a team of Orphans volunteers would staff a table to answer questions from the corporate employees. Or you may find yourself gift wrapping for donations during the holiday season.
