Dogs

Turbo is gentle, affectionate, house trained, and is such good company he has become a favorite for field trips because he is just SO GOOD when he is out of the shelter, exploring the world with a friend. He comes into the gentle dog playgroup and tolerates the other gentle dogs.. time in is short because he prefers people. He barks a lot in his kennel, which is a pretty typical behavior at a shelter, and often has nothing to do with how a dog will behave in a home. They just want your attention. And out. Potential adopters don't ask to meet him because they presume he will behave like this in the home. We have taken him out a lot and spent a lot of time with him, and what we have seen is a wonderful, loving dog. He needs someone who will give him the love, affection and attention he deserves. Praise from his volunteer friends: "I took him on a field trip and he did not bark for the whole trip!!! We went to Lord and Taylor where he was quiet and loved to be petted by the many people he met. At the park he encountered many dogs and didn't bark once!! He walks very nicely on the leash. He is a totally different dog outside shelter. He looks at you with his amazing soulful eyes and you just know he would give you his whole heart if he is given a chance. Just a sweet, kind dog!! He just needs someone to look past his loud kennel behavior and give him a real chance. It breaks my heart to think he has been there almost a year, he is a great dog. "He is on the house trained list to get out early in the morning - we know he'll hold it if he doesn't get out and we don't want him to have to. "Turbo is very treat motivated. Sits nicely for treats and will quiet down for them. "As noisy as he is on a leash, as soon as you stop and rub his ears, his eyes close, and so does his mouth! "Turbo seemed hesitant riding in a car but then I realized he just needed a lift into the seat. He was excited to walk around McDonald's area and eat a cheeseburger. Didn't make a sound. Very well behaved. "Loves to be pet and cuddle on a bench. "He barks and goes crazy in his kennel. When u walk him to trail he barks sometimes at absolutely nothing. This is because he is so stressed out. Once on the trail he quiets down and just wants to be petted. "He is so great... Just not himself at the shelter unless we are on the trail with nobody else around. Consider meeting him..but give him a little time. We are pretty sure you will fall in love with him.
