Meet all of our cats
Julie is the Queen Cat! She is regal, independent, opinionated, and not afraid to show it. In December 2018, Julie was transferred to us from Lake County Animal Control and has lived with us ever since. Unfortunately, we don't know what her life was like before she reached our doors. While Julie has made a ton of progress since being in our care, she still does not seem to trust human beings much. Julie enjoys the company of people, but is very picky about physical touch and affection. This royal lady is looking for an experienced cat owner that is willing to respect her boundaries and behavioral cues. Her perfect adopter would understand that she wants interaction, attention, and affection only on her terms. Julie does enjoy being pet on the top of her head, and can enjoy being brushed as well. She loves to rub against your legs in greeting or just to say hi as she walks by. Julie absolutely loves freeze-dried chicken treats; it's a great tool to help gain her trust initially. But our favorite quality of hers is her MEOW! Talkative is an understatement for this girl. She will meow all the time, and she enjoys having conversations with her friends here at the shelter. Queen Julie would do best in a home with no other cats and no children. She can coexist with other cats at the shelter, but would be much happier in a home where she's the star of the show. We require that Julie goes to a home with adults only because she is not shy about telling you to back off by swatting and defending herself. Her perfect person is out there waiting for her, and she's ready to find them! Julie will require time and patience when she gets home. Her decompression period will be a vital time for her when she first arrives. If transitioned properly, we truly believe that Julie will blossom into a great companion even if she'll never be a "lap cat." Our staff will help you every step of the way in learning how to best introduce her to your home. We love this girl and we want the best for her. If you have space to share with a new kitty roommate, patience, and respect for animal boundaries, this cat could bring you a lot of joy. Please call the shelter at 847-945-0235 to learn more about the Queen of the Cat Wing - Julie! I am looking for a foster to give me a break from the shelter and help me transition into home life.
